Father P.J. Kelly (1925-2006)

Not to be confused with his fellow Galway composer Paddy Kelly (as we initially did) Father PJ Kelly was an accordionist, composer and missionary priest from East Galway.
A composer of numerous tunes now firmly part of the tradition including Rossmore Jetty, Ben Hill and Lough Derg, these tunes and 30 others can be found in the book Father Kelly's Favourites - A Musical Tribute to composer Fr. P.J. Kelly.
Father Kelly's importance as a composer in the tradition is made apparent by the following quote from Nicholas Carolan of the Irish Traditional Music Archive.
'In the Archive we have over 110 commercial recordings carrying the name of Father Kelly in their track-listings, not to mention non-commercial recordings.'
You can read more about Father Kelly in his biography from the All Music Guide
