Dennis Cahill (b. 1954)

Born in Chicago to Irish parents, Dennis Cahill is most famous for being the duo partner for the great fiddler Martin Hayes.
Cahill's unique guitar style draws from classical music and jazz and this influence is evident in his best known tune Jimmy on the Moor which he and Hayes recorded on the album The Lonesome Touch.
This album closes with another Cahill composition Peggy's Waltz.
So far these are the only tunes of his to become widely known within the tradition via The Lonesome Touch and Hayes and Cahill's international touring schedule, although it must be said neither has become a standard session tune as of yet.
