Darach de Brún (d.2012)

Darach de Brún was an uilleann piper from Dublin.
He was a member of the band Drantán who played many of his tunes.
His tune The Man of Aran has become a common session tune.
The Maple Leaf is often paired with it.
Writing on thesession.org Darach had this to say about the tunes.
'I did, amongst many others, compose The Maple Leaf and Man of Aran. The Man of Aran was composed in 1975 as a wedding present for Tommy Walsh, a Dublin box player who composed the tune Inis Thoir (Inisheer). The Maple Leaf was composed in 1976 for my own wedding. I had my reception in the Maples Hotel, Dublin, hence the name.'
""Addendum 25th June 2012""
We just heard the sad news that Darach passed away on 24th June 2012 from a sudden heart attack. RIP Darach, your music lives on with us.
